Etsy is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way for artists and makers to set up an online shop to vend their goods to customers all over the world. With 2 million active sellers, though, getting seen on Etsy takes effort and skill. In this workshop we’ll delve into branding, copy writing, photography, and managing the financials. We’ll also look at case studies of successful shops to glean best practices. You’ll learn how to set up and optimize your Etsy shop for maximum impact and you’ll acquire marketing strategies to drive traffic and sales to grow your handmade business. 

Abby Glassenberg is a sewing pattern designer, craft book author, teacher, and writer who has been selling on Etsy since July 2005. On her blog,, she writes about the sewing industry, running a creative business, and the online culture of craft.  She is the co-founder of  Craft Industry Alliance. Abby has an undergraduate degree in history from Johns Hopkins and a master’s degree in education from Harvard. She taught middle school social studies in Mississippi through Teach For America, and 6th grade in the Newton Public Schools before becoming a textile artist. She’s the author of three sewing books. Abby lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts with her husband and three daughters.
