In this class, students will tackle their first lace project making a beautiful large gauge lace shawl. The pattern is adapted and translated by Dylanium Knits from the Swedish yarn company Yllet.
In the first session, students will be walked through the pattern (a simple 8-row repeat) step-by-step. They will learn various stitches and techniques used in lace designs including yarn overs and special decrease stitches, as well as reading written patterns versus charted patterns.
In week 2, the students will continue to practice the pattern and can ask any questions they might have regarding the lace pattern’s instructions. Students will also learn various tips and tricks for tackling more complex lace patterns including fixing mistakes, adding lifelines, and proper blocking techniques to make our lace projects as beautiful as they can possibly be.
