JP Open Studios
Starts: September 22, 2012 3:00 pm
Sunday, September 23, 12-5pm
For one weekend we are transforming our shop into an art gallery! We couldn’t be more excited to be participating in this year’s JP Open Studios. We are hosting three amazing artists in the shop for this fun + artistic weekend. Come by and see (and experience!) their work for yourselves, meet the artists, and enjoy some refreshments. This year we are showing the work of: Eloise Narrigan, watercolors; Petr Metlicka, photography; and Virginia Fitzgerald, fiber + performance artist. Please help us welcome these wonderful artists to JP Knit & Stitch’s studio space. Be inspired!
***A note about the fiber and performance artist, Virginia Fitzgerald:
This weekend, during the JP Open Studios, fiber artist Virginia Fitzgerald, will be performing her piece,’insatiable’. This piece is an ever growing, organically crocheted fiber piece in which she crochets a myriad of different materials, some traditional fibers and yarns and some untraditional ~ old plastic bags, electric cords, dead balloons, etc. Beside using the different materials that she has collected, Virginia encourages others to bring in materials to add to the piece. So look around your house and bring in any greenish/brownish fiber like materials – such as, scraps of yarn, strips of fabrics, old nylons, gift wrapping ribbons, old ribbons, old packing materials, old plastic bags….(one woman brought in her dog and gave him a trim right there in the gallery and then Virginia crocheted the fur into ‘insatiable’). There will be a basket at the shop for collecting materials. The sky’s the limit, let your imagination run wild!
