New in the Shop: Quince & Co. Linen

We are so pleased to share with you that J.P. Knit & Stitch is now an official Linen store with Quince & Co.!

We are carrying Kestral and Sparrow yarns from Quince—both are made from 100% organic Belgium linen, a fiber renowned for it’s strength, drape, and breathability that makes for elegant, but very wearable garments and accessories. “Sparrow is a plain little yarn, beautiful in its simplicity. Its clean, smooth hand is crisp as you knit it. But after washing and wearing it becomes handkerchief-soft and drapey. The yarn is a natural in lace patterns, carving out the yarn overs, but it’s fluid, too, in simple stockinette. It’s great in tanks, shawls, and breezy cardigans, and lovely as can be in bags, wash cloths, and other home accessories.”

This yarn is spun in Italy from organic linen grown in Belgium. We love that it’s strength is matched by it’s delicate drape and the quality of its steady fine gauge that lends refinement to both lace and everyday stitch patterns.  Sparrow comes in a range of beautiful colors to complement all skin tones and wardrobes and, depending on the type of texture and drape you are after, can be knit on a wide range of needle sizes giving you great versatility.

“Kestrel is a new take on a simple linen yarn. Its flat surface adds a slight texture to simple knit and purl stitches. But we think the best thing about it is its incredible drape. Like all things linen, woven or knitted, Kestrel only gets better as you wash and wear it.”

Kestral is also made from organic Belgium linen spun in Italy, but spun up in a worsted-weight ribbon structure, creating a strand made up of a small knitted tube. This gives projects gorgeous texture and body and it comes in as many lovely colors as Sparrow. If you are looking for a quick-knitting summer yarn, Kestral is exactly what you want and need.

Quince is celebrating Linen Month throughout March and so are we!

There is lots to look forward to, including new colorway releases in both Sparrow and Kestral, the pre-release of Framework: Ten Architectural Knits, a book of linen pieces by Norah Gaughan, the launch of Quince & Co.’s Linen Noir pattern series, and the Kestral + Sparrow trunk shows right here at J.P. Knit & Stitch now through March 20th! Come get to know these two yarns in person both on the skein and knit up in so many great patterns that will have you itching to get your summer stitch on!
