13 Oct New in the Shop: Spincycle Yarn’s Dyed in the Wool
Dyed in the Wool:
- (of textiles)dyed before being formed into cloth.
- (idiomatic)firmly established in a person’s beliefs or habits; deeply ingrained in the nature of a person or thing.
Here at the shop, Genevieve has been busy behind the scenes sourcing all kinds of new yarns for us with a focus on those that are independently and/or locally sourced and produced. As a small independent shop ourselves, supporting indie makers and ingenuity is at the heart of what we do, whether it’s artisan dyers and designers or our creative customers! We’re thrilled to be able to connect you to one of our new favorites: Spincycle Yarn’s Dyed in the Wool.
This yarn is not only sourced and produced in the USA from sheep to skein, it is also drop.dead.GORGEOUS. Because the fiber is dyed before it is spun, the colors in this yarn, “meet and part ways in stunning and unique combinations; the overall effect is of a balanced seamless whole. Color changes are always brilliant, never repetitive.” They’re as poetic to see and touch as they sound; we’ve been salivating over them ever since these skeins arrived on our doorstep.

Spincycle Yarns was begun in 2004 by two rad handspinners, Rachel and Kate. The duo recently began working with a mother-daughter run micro-mill on Washington’s Camano Island in order to realize their dream of creating a yarn that could be produced efficiently in a mill while maintaining the unique beauty and texture of a handspun. Dyed in the Wool is the result of this collaboration: a 100% American wool superwash yarn in 5-ply sport/heavy sock weight that comes in 29 elegantly variegated colorways.
Spincycle’s colorways feature intertwining combinations that are at once sophisticated and dramatic, earthy and contemporary. Stop in soon to meet these special skeins in person and STAY TUNED for details of our Fall 2016 KAL featuring them!
