JP Knit & Stitch is looking for a new crafter to join our staff! Check out the job description and requirements below, and get in touch if it seems like a good fit. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Job Description: Sales Associate

We’re looking for a Sales Associate to join our team. Your main responsibility will be attending to customers. You’ll ring them up, of course, but you’ll also talk through potential problems, help them solve pattern puzzles, and recommend the best tools and materials to use. You’ll let customers know about upcoming classes, handle class registrations, and help teachers set up for classes. You’ll update our social media with shop news and inspiring projects, and keep the shop tidy, organized, and inviting. You’ll also help with receiving inventory and sourcing awesome new products to carry.

This is a part time position and ranges from about 10 hours per week (in the summer) to about 15 to 18 per week (during the fall and winter). Weekend and evening (until 8pm) availability is an absolute must.

A friendly, welcoming, and enthusiastic personality! Every day, we help customers find projects, solve problems, and master new skills, and we want someone eager to help and share their knowledge.

–Of course, you must be an accomplished knitter and sewer. Extra points for additional crafts (embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, weaving, spinning; all that great stuff)!

Social media savy (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest); if you’ve managed social media in another job, we want to know about it. A great candidate also will be familiar and keep up with current crafting bloggers, makers, and emerging designers.

Knowledge of a range of knitting techniques (cables, lace, colorwork, etc), yarns,  and comfort reading and interpreting a knitting pattern. You need to know your way around Ravelry, too.

Organized, a great multitasker, and self motivated. There’s always a project going on at the shop, and we want you to take it on!

Weekend and evening availability. You must be available at least three weekends a month, especially on Saturdays. (We know we said that up in the description, but it’s important!)

If you meet our list of requirements and simply can’t wait to roll up your sleeves and start helping our customers with all their yarn and fabric needs, email us an introduction, a link to your Ravelry page, and a resume to
